K.C. Bonker is the captain and conductor of the Punky Steamer, which travels along the Road to Joy through time, space, and the multiverse. Along with his six-member crew, they collect potions, toys, and coffee along the way. His is the Power of Transformation, knowing that even a sigh of deep sorrow can blow a bubble or spin a pinwheel, which can transform burdens into balloons. His crew find their center of movement in him, and he receives his inspiration from them. This relationship is reflected in his Sacred Pinwheel, revealing breath itself, and transforming the invisible into the visible; the very essence of Play.

The Aeronaut is the fearless pilot of K.C. Bonker's Punky Steamer, effortlessly moving between worlds. She can pilot any vehicle, including her own body, with grace and precision. Hers is the Power of Performance; the art of movement and motion in any form. The Aeronaut reminds us that motion is not just a vehicle to get us to a destination, but a fundamental aspect of Play. Her constellation, The Kite, dances on the horizon between freedom and control, safety and daring. The Plane, her Sacred Toy, embodies paper planes, magic carpets, the open road, and new horizons.

The Goggle Jockey is K.C. Bonker's mechanic of the Punky Steamer, and Keeper of Goggles. He sees the colors of the Other Rainbow, hues found beyond those of normal perception. He is the archetype of pranks, pretending, finding novelty in the familiar, and reminds us that humor and absurdity are at the heart of his Power of Experimentation. The Goggle Jockey inspires us to see things differently, relish a good joke, practice pretending, and embrace absurdity as vital elements of Play. His constellation, The Wooden Sword, is a weapon that rises against the enemies of imagination. The Stick, his Sacred Toy, is the essence of stilts, magic wands, and of course, wooden swords.

The Tinker is the inventor and craftsman of K.C. Bonker's Punky Steamer. From hammering to knitting, from carving to mixing potions, his skills know no bounds. His is the Power of Creation; constructing, shaping, concocting, and mending with meticulous care. The Tinker reminds us that we are not just another petal in the pinwheel, but we can create the pinwheel itself as an act of Play. His constellation, The Hammer, represents his unwavering passion to build, dismantle, and rebuild. The Block, his Simple Toy, is the cornerstone of construction itself.

The Cartographer is the seeker of the uncharted and collector of wonders, mapping the Realms of imagination and the stories that live there. She traces the unseen lines between here and there and records them in works of art. Hers is the Power of Exploration; the desire to wander, to map, and to bring something back as a way of Play. The Cartographer reminds us that every path, no matter how winding or unplanned, has room for play. Her constellation, The Spot, is both journey and destination, and marks where your treasure is found. The Wheel, her Sacred Toy, spins toward this treasure, rolling along the Road to Joy.

The Chrononaut is the time-traveler on K.C. Bonker's Punky Steamer, guiding the ship as she skips through past, present, and future. She is the reason stories of the past are always present, and why music can call forth longing for the treasures of the future. Wielding the Power of Presence, she fully inhabits every moment whenever it is. The Chrononaut reminds us that Play does not resist time but glides through it. Her constellation, The Hourglass, outlines infinity and shows us that time, like a game, belongs to those who dare to play with it. The String, her Sacred Toy, gathers past and future into a single, present thread.

The Philosopher is the oracle of the Punky Steamer, able to see the multiverse in a single marble. His is ever playing with thoughts which flutter about as butterflies. His is the Power of Contemplation; finding the best move in a board game, pondering the big questions, and embracing the act of thoughtful wonder as an act of Play. The Philosopher reminds us that thoughts go ever higher, and the mind at play is its true purpose. His constellation, The Question, shines with a light that invites response. The Ball, his Sacred Toy, is the finite sphere of infinite contemplation.

The Stowaway is the secret traveller on the Punky Steamer. Secretly watching, listening, and learning, this daring traveller is the embodiment of every student of Play. The Stowaway possesses the Power of Curiosity, practicing and honing the skills of Play to bring this knowledge to maturity. The Stowaway often shows other prospective travellers the many trapdoors and portholes which lead aboard.

Foe Fum is a great obstacle to Play, having fully grown up into a wooden giant. He insists on dragging a heavy anchor, the origins of which are known only to K.C. Bonker and Foe Fum. Their relationship has a long history, and, though it is not well understood, the friction between them provides a catalyst for Play to fully flourish.
